While plenty of artists already had their own work stations, not all were prepared for the psychological challenges of staying creative and motivated in isolation. ![]() With the right hardware set up, a strong Wi-fi connection and digital tools, the transition from the studio to a home office can be seamless. With broadcasters and streaming platforms unable to create live-action content indefinitely, the demand for original animation is poised to continue growing. Prior to the current situation, many major animated features and series were co-produced with teams working remotely around the world - making the recent adjustment relatively smooth. For now, we're going to focus on the simplest type of animation, just to get the ball rolling.One the perks of being an animator or story artist is it is possible to work from almost anywhere. Some of the advanced features that it offers include deformers, cut-out puppets, and an automated lip-sync feature, complete with a digital XSheet. Once you're familiar with each feature and its purpose, however, Harmony becomes a language that is very easy to attain fluency in. The suite of tools that Toon Boom offers is enormous and can be a bit overwhelming at first this will generally be the case no matter what type of software you're learning. Many will cite the learning curve associated with Harmony, but we encourage you to pay them no heed. Just pick your poison and you're off to the races. It's an end-to-end animation system capable of both cut-out animation and paperless animation. Toon Boom Harmony is one of the most enjoyable experiences that a digital animator can partake in professionally.
